What are you looking for?

This is a question I’ve heard I don’t know how many times on my countless First Date Only experiences with Craiglist. People like to ask silly questions. Like “how many guys have you slept with?”

I happen to be a vague, sarcastic person, so these types of questions don’t go over well with me. I have two standard answers to this question. Which one I choose depends solely on my mood.

Am I the blackest guy you’ve ever been with?

I have no idea why this was important to my (soon to be ex) Husband. I just remember one day, in the beginning of our relationship, he asked this question.

I just…laughed.

As I said in my previous post, I’m not sure. Exactly. If I really had to guess for some reason, I could. Probably with some degree of accuracy. Maybe.

But why do people want to know this about the person that they are sexing anyway? Does it really matter? Does it tell you anything? Do you want to know so that you can categorize me? Define me, put me in a neat little box somewhere?

So how many guys have you slept with?

I don’t know how many times I have heard (some variation of) this question. Whether it’s from guys I’ve dated, friends (male and female) or family (like I’m really going to tell them anything) I have heard this question about a million times.

I’m not stupid, I know better than to answer this question when asked by family or anyone with a penis.

So what’s the answer?

I have been asked this question by way too many guys I’ve met (or occasionally before I met them) on either dating websites or Craigslist.

First thing-I hate talking about sex (or anything sex related) before having sex (or even a kiss) because I think it’s presumptuous.

Second thing-if you have to ask this question you will probably never find out the answer.
