Which is why they usually don’t make it to second dates. At least in my case. First impressions really matter to me. And it might be kind of hard to make a good first impression when everyone is nervous and we don’t know each other at all due to the whole online dating thing.

So here are some of the reasons that first dates suck. And what I’d like to see improved in my own dating life.

Craigslist here I come?

Not so fast! I’m really not sure if that is what I want to do right now for a couple of reasons. I mean, I’m kind enjoying the single life (of two weeks) so I don’t really know if I want to jump back onto the dating pony right after I got thrown off.

Though it would make for some interesting blog fodder.

because it’s funny, sometimes, to read the personals. I read men and women. I’m looking for entertainment here. I like the fights people sometimes get into on there. Anyway. Here’s am ad I came across and was thinking “wtf, I can barely read this shit.”

im new to tha area dont no meny people if none at all lookn for sum1 to hang with smoke mayb drink and go from there im open to all types of weman so don not b shy im originaly from mass so im not familier with upstate so u would have to talk to me as if ididnt no where u where lol unles u are n my immediate are lol ill b waiting NO SPAM enter this code to let me no u are a real person( iluvit4evr…).id appreciate if u have a pic i have one so im no scarred to show who i am if u dont have one then im already noing u must not b mutch to look at or have things to hide honesty is tha best policy

I had a hard time reading that. But I can see the movie Idiocracy being played out in the near future.

Dating tip for boys: If you’re going to post a personals ad, I would recommend proper spelling and grammar. If you put up trash, you’ll get trash in return.

What are you looking for?

This is a question I’ve heard I don’t know how many times on my countless First Date Only experiences with Craiglist. People like to ask silly questions. Like “how many guys have you slept with?”

I happen to be a vague, sarcastic person, so these types of questions don’t go over well with me. I have two standard answers to this question. Which one I choose depends solely on my mood.

Did you read Part 1? If not, you should go do it and I’ll still be waiting here when you get back…Yup, I’m still here.

So the Lionheart Guy and I met again for another round of drinks. We start making out again which was good because I kinda decided that he was a little boring and didn’t need to talk too much. So I needed to keep his mouth busy.

I posted a Craiglist ad in the beginning of January. Had a few seemingly good responses. One was cute, but bored me to tears. The other was just completely horrible .

Needless to say, I didn’t expect much when going into the third date. All I knew was that he had really nice eyes and was offering free alcohol down on Lark Street.

Miss Part 1?

I knew it would be really mean to leave, but he was 15 minutes late. I figured I would give him another five minutes and hopefully he would stay seated then I wouldn’t feel so bad about leaving…

He saw me, got out of his seat and started walking toward me. Fantastic.

Attraction is important, and, in the online world, all we can rely on are the pictures these guys (or girls if I swung that way) use.

Sometimes these pictures are not accurate representations of what people look like. Sometimes the pictures are from a few (hundred) years ago. Or it’s only a face shot and you may not be expecting the person that you are meeting to look like an ogre body-wise. (Yeah, that has happened. I’ll explain below.) Or if may be the only good picture that someone has ever taken of them and it somehow looks nothing like them. (This is possible, I’ve seen it happen.)

Meeting Dreads 2

I think it was the night before we were actually supposed to meet that he gave me his number and I reciprocated by providing mine. It was, obviously, not my (soon to be ex) Husband’s number.

Husband wouldn’t be that stupid.

Meeting Dreads

I briefly mentioned in a previous post that I met Dreads through Craiglist. I did not, however, talk about the apprehension that went into meeting him in the first place.

I didn’t think he was real.
